Sense or nonsense

(NON)SENSE:
When I was in Vancouver in my hotel, being online with my wife Jian in Nanning, China, using Yahoo with webcam, I saw Jian grabbing her purse and disappearing from the webcam scene.
Some minutes later my sister-in-law sent me a message that China was struck by an earthquake, and that Jian was safe on the street. We have an apartment 80 m. above ground-level. Jian told me later that the whole building was shaking. Finally they recorded only 3.5 on Richters scale in Nanning, enough to shake high buildings about 1000 km. from the epic center.
